Welcome to the Technical Guidance for Wales page.
The Building Regulations exist to ensure the health and safety of people in and around all types of buildings. They also provide for energy conservation, security, and access to buildings.
The Regulations contain minimum requirements to ensure our buildings comply. The minimum standards are arranged as requirements A to R, with each part referring to a different aspect of work (e.g. structure, fire safety, ventilation etc.), and each has it's own Approved Document explaining how to meet the Regulations.
The approved documents are available to download below. Our additional guidance can be found in the relevant A to R section. Where guidance covers more than one subject area it can be found in each one.
